Main points

  • Provider: Climate Hero AB provides FlySAF and is your contracting party. FlySAF is run in partnership with We Don't Have Time.
  • What you pay for: sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) equal to the fossil jet fuel your seat uses, and Gold Standard certified climate projects for the remaining emissions.
  • What it is not: your flight will not run on the SAF you fund, and FlySAF does not make your flight climate neutral.
  • Withdrawal: as a consumer you have 14 days to withdraw and get a full refund.
  • Privacy: ClimateHero handles your personal data. We Don't Have Time only receives anonymised statistics.

This summary is for convenience only. The full Terms below are the legally binding agreement between you and ClimateHero.

1. General

1.1 These Terms and Conditions (the "Terms") apply to the FlySAF service at flysaf.org (the "Service") between Climate Hero AB, company registration number 556815-2754, Sandhamnsgatan 30, 115 40 Stockholm, Sweden ("ClimateHero") and you ("the User").

1.2 FlySAF is run as part of a partnership campaign between ClimateHero and We Don't Have Time. ClimateHero is the provider of the Service and your only contracting party. ClimateHero sources the SAF and carbon credits, takes your payment and issues your receipt and certificate. We Don't Have Time is not a party to these Terms.

1.3 The Service is open to individuals and businesses. You must be at least 18 years old to make a purchase. If you buy on behalf of a company, you confirm that you are authorised to do so.

1.4 ClimateHero's other services are governed by ClimateHero's general Terms and Conditions at climatehero.org/en/terms.

2. The Service

2.1 The Service estimates the emissions of a flight and lets you pay for two things:

  • A fuel switch: ClimateHero funds sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) equal to the fossil jet fuel your seat or seats are estimated to use.
  • Climate project funding: ClimateHero funds Gold Standard certified climate projects for the remaining emissions, meaning the emissions from producing the SAF and the high-altitude effects of flying.

2.2 Your flight will not run on the SAF you fund. The SAF is delivered into the shared aviation fuel supply, and its emission reduction is allocated to your purchase. This is known as book and claim.

2.3 The Service does not make your flight, you or your company climate neutral, and ClimateHero does not claim that it does.

2.4 All purchases are one-off purchases. There is no subscription and no account.

3. Emission estimates

3.1 Emissions are estimated using the method described at flysaf.org/method. Estimates are indicative only. They are not measurements and should not be the sole basis for business, financial or reporting decisions.

3.2 The calculator prices an economy seat. You are responsible for entering the correct route and number of seats, including extra seats for premium cabins as described in the Service. Purchases are not adjusted afterwards.

4. Prices and payment

4.1 The price is shown before you pay, and the price at the time of purchase applies. Prices are in euros (EUR), including VAT.

4.2 Card payments are processed by Stripe. ClimateHero does not store your full card details.

4.3 Businesses can pay by invoice when the order meets the minimum amount shown at checkout. ClimateHero emails the invoice within one working day, and it is payable within 30 days of the invoice date. Your SAF and climate project funding are allocated and your Certificate of Climate Contribution is issued once the invoice has been paid.

4.4 ClimateHero assumes no responsibility for any tax implications of your purchase.

5. Delivery

5.1 ClimateHero buys SAF in pooled batches, each documented in a Declaration of Environmental Attributes, and allocates your purchase against them. Every batch is certified under ISCC (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification) or RSB (Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials), is made from waste or residue feedstocks and never from crops grown for the purpose, and has a certified life cycle emission reduction of at least 75% compared with fossil jet fuel.

5.2 The environmental attributes allocated to your purchase are not sold or allocated to any other customer.

5.3 For the remaining emissions, ClimateHero buys and retires a corresponding volume of Gold Standard certified carbon credits. Credits are retired in ClimateHero's name on behalf of its customers.

5.4 Since 2018, an independent auditor has checked every year that ClimateHero has bought at least as many climate credits as its customers have paid for. Audit reports are published by June of the following year at climatehero.org/en/fund/our-approach#audit-reports.

5.5 After payment, you receive a receipt and a Certificate of Climate Contribution by email, in your name or your company's name. The Certificate is for your own use and cannot be sold or transferred.

6. Right of withdrawal

6.1 As a consumer, you have the right to withdraw from your purchase within 14 days of the purchase, without giving a reason. Email hello@climatehero.org with your order details, or use the standard withdrawal form from the Swedish Consumer Agency (Konsumentverket). ClimateHero refunds the full amount within 14 days, using the original payment method.

6.2 If you withdraw, your Certificate of Climate Contribution is cancelled and is no longer valid, and the SAF and climate project funding allocated to your purchase is returned to ClimateHero's pool.

6.3 Businesses do not have a statutory right of withdrawal. If a business has made a mistake in its purchase, for example a wrong route or a duplicate payment, contact hello@climatehero.org within 14 days and ClimateHero will correct or refund the purchase.

7. Usage and rights

7.1 You may use the Service for personal or internal business purposes. ClimateHero may refuse or cancel a purchase if it suspects fraud or misuse, and will then refund any amount paid.

7.2 All intellectual property rights relating to the Service belong to ClimateHero. You do not receive any licence to these rights through your use of the Service.

8. Personal data

8.1 ClimateHero is the controller for the personal data you submit. The data is used to deliver your purchase, send your receipt and certificate, provide customer service, meet bookkeeping requirements and for statistics, in accordance with ClimateHero's privacy policy at flysaf.org/privacy.

8.2 We Don't Have Time does not receive any personal data. ClimateHero only shares anonymised, aggregated statistics about the campaign with We Don't Have Time.

8.3 You can request access to, correction of or deletion of your personal data by emailing hello@climatehero.org.

9. Availability and liability

9.1 ClimateHero does not guarantee that the Service is always available. ClimateHero is not liable for indirect or consequential loss. For purchases by businesses, ClimateHero's liability is limited to the amount paid for the purchase. This does not limit any rights you have under mandatory consumer law.

10. Changes to the Terms

10.1 ClimateHero may update these Terms. The version in force at the time of your purchase applies to that purchase.

11. Complaints and disputes

11.1 Questions and complaints can be sent to hello@climatehero.org. ClimateHero aims to respond within 1 working day.

11.2 If we cannot resolve a complaint together, you can as a consumer turn to the National Board for Consumer Disputes (Allmänna reklamationsnämnden, ARN), Box 174, 101 23 Stockholm, arn.se. ClimateHero participates in ARN's proceedings.

11.3 Swedish law shall apply to these Terms. Disputes arising out of these Terms shall be settled in a Swedish public court, with the Stockholm District Court as the court of first instance.
